1. Audi as a passion
We did not know a lot about Mr. R before we met him, but we soon got to find out about his immense passion for Audi, for their cars, the brand, the technology, everything revolving around the 4-circle badge. His Instagram account caught our eye immediately, and we contacted him directly, for a full-on feature on his amazing new car. Also, we couldn’t say no to a road trip to the mountains, could we?
Living in various towns and cities means a lot of travel for Mr. R and his family, so, obviously, a larger car was needed. But, as a fan of having fun on the road, he chose very carefully which model would take him on Europe’s roads, in safety, luxury, and speed. Enter the Audi RS6, a car designed for long trips, in style, as well as performance.
2. A non-compromising purchase
Searching the market for something to appeal to him, as a complete package, inevitably, he reached an Audi dealership, in Nurnberg, Germany, owned by Steffi Graf’s father (take this as a fun fact). It’s there where Mr. R fell in love with the car that would become his own daily driver, in a short while.
The 2020 model of the Audi RS6, with the featured car priced at 168.000 EUR, delivers some amazing numbers: 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, produced by the 591 bhp and the 800 Nm that its 4.0L V8 TFSI twin-turbo engine delivers. The acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h takes 12 seconds. Large wheels, a futuristic and cozy interior, and space for all the bikes and luggage a 4-people family will ever need. The Daytona Grey color goes hand-in-hand with the full carbon package and the ceramic brakes, needed for stopping that huge amount of power.
We can easily say that the car Mr. R chose has all the attributes a family man looks for in an automobile. It’s spacious, it’s luxurious, it’s safe and it’s fast. Oh, so, so fast.
3. More and more
This RS6 was not meant to be a show car, in fact, we were the only ones allowed to shoot it and tell its story. It will never go to car meets, to auto shows, or to racing competitions. It’s just made for taking kids to school, for family road trips, and for the occasional highway drive, where it can use its full potential. However, Mr. R wanted more from his Audi, in terms of performance...
By applying some discreet, yet essential modifications, the RS6 really turned into a one-of-a-kind beast, especially when you open up the gas and push the pedal. It can become a wild, savage animal, whenever needed. The fine people from LVB Performance remapped the engine, so it produces 758 bhp and 1029 Nm. They just jumped straight into Stage 2, directly from the stock mapping, and oh, what a difference it makes. The monster that is hidden beneath the family wagon shows its fangs, once the race mode is turned on.
Some other numbers also changed, so now 0 to 100 km/h takes 2.9 seconds and 100 to 200 km/h takes 6.9 seconds. That probably makes it the fastest school bus in the world.
The owner also applied a full ceramic OptiCoat Pro+ wrap, in order to protect the glossy paint job. The 22” wheels complete a clean, simple modification package, which clearly changed the Audi RS6 for the better. The photos speak for themselves, actually, and we’re privileged to have had the chance to take them.
4. A louder future
After reaching out to Capristo, Mr. R found another company that is willing to make the sound and the performance better: Akrapovic. Apart from working with some of the best car makers in the world, they will create a tailored-made exhaust system, that will probably bring the car to the desired number: 800+ bhp.
We established that we’ll meet again, next summer, probably in a more exotic location, to shoot the final form that this family wagon will take. The shape of things to come is something we can only dream of, but seeing how the project went so far, we expect nothing but the sheer quality and good taste we saw until now.
What did we take from doing this exclusive feature? Well, first of all, in an era of compromises, there are ways of doing none. In an era of comfort VS performance, there are cars that offer both. In an era when some drivers are torn apart between safe, spacious cars or race cars, there are some vehicles that can be all that, and even more. Looking forward to seeing where this unique RS6 goes, we leave you with the article and the photos of the most amazing family wagon we got the chance to cover.
