1. Passionately ignited
It’s a well-known fact that boys start liking cars from childhood, and, as they grow up, they want to purchase, or better yet, build their own four-wheeled partner, no matter the costs, the effort, or the time invested in their project car. It’s exactly this type of obsessive passion that has brought us to Alex, and his amazing, one-of-a-kind BMW 3-Series Touring. Or, what’s left of it, at least.
The facts that made this car the perfect choice for his project, were the practical aspects, the quality of the engine, the huge potential for modifications, and the fact that Bimmers, no matter the generation, are deeply rooted in the East-European tuning culture. So, when the opportunity presented itself, the apparently dull 320D E91 LCI was a logical choice. Oh, but whet the future held in store for the family tourer...
2. Wisely modified
When Alex began to bring enhancements to his car, his vision was a very unique one, but this was his first project, so he reached out to more experienced members from the local scene, and as such, the SKZ project began, first by fitting M bumpers, on both front and rear, for that trademark sporty, aggressive look.
Wheel fitment came next, and the 19” Radi8 rims were the icing on the cake that was about to be served. Bad-boy look, almost complete. A final touch was the air suspension, professionally done by AFS. The effect of this custom air-ride was amazing, hunkering the Bimmer as low as possible to the ground and giving it the most aggressive stance we have seen so far in a family touring car.
3. Creatively tailored
Apart from all the fitment mods, the suspension, and those amazing big wheels, Alex wanted more from his Bimmer. More, as in the most customized touring car, this part of Europe has ever seen. So, he took matters into his own hands.
The side skirts, the front bumper lip, those are all personally designed and fabricated by him. No big tuning company name here, just plain old personal vision and dedicated manufacturing. Even the exhaust muffler is based on an Akrapovic one but customized by Alex himself. He went so far as to create his own, personalized badges, removing everything stock, and branding this car as his own.
The custom-made Graphite Mettalic Grey wrap is a final touch on how personalized this car is. Not satisfied with the stock Grey color, even this detail was changed, to fulfill the need of owning and driving a one-of-a-kind Bimmer.
Inside, things are also different, and unique. The gear shifter is self-made, the steering wheel badge was replaced, there are Alcantara trims everywhere and a certain feeling that you're sitting in a one-of-a-kind car.
4. Joyfully revived
After all the obsessive attention to detail and all the custom parts that have been added to the Bimmer, you have to take one step back and marvel at what has been achieved here. A car that did nothing special in particular, a daily driver meant to take you to work and back, has become a unique creation, tailored by the taste of its owner, turning eyes and taking names.
Seeing that the SKZ Bimmer has been going to auto shows for the past 4 years and has been attending some of the largest meets, being included in Romania’s largest car culture club, means that the goal has been achieved.
If you needed more evidence regarding the fact that owning a car is nice, but building one is even better, here you go. A young man and his own creation, side by side, proving that visions can take shape and that stock can become better.
